Are they worth it!
Hi
Sometimes things just get to you, this time amongst others it is Barclays Bank, once the great supporter of Apartheid in South Africa.
This time it is spending over 2 billion on bonuses for a bank that is doing worse than last year. The excuse seems to be that they have to hold on to their talented people, how come they are so talented that their profits are down.
These guys have the perfect job, profits go up so we get the lion's share, profits go down so we need the money to keep us cause we are the guys to do better.
They take us for suckers and they seem to be right, the shareholders are mainly other guys who are playing the same game so they won't rock the boat. It seems that there are only two things the government can do, make them one shareholder one vote so that they cannot do this sort of thing and if they don't play they don't do business in Britain. The other is to make sure that any fines levied for misconduct come out of the directors pockets! Would the misselling scandals have happened if the directors had to pay the fines. Remember these guys took the praise (and the pay) when the company was cheating.
But who will hold them to account politically, certainly not the current government, nor unfortunately the last one. We need properly educated people in parliament, public school and Oxbridge seems to destroy any care for other people, they are educated to line their own pockets and trained to believe they deserve it. Most people who go to public schools are the children of the rich and what are they taught? They are taught that they deserve, the problem is that they are the undeserving rich!
