A British Day

Gordon Brown has suggested a new public holiday to celebrate all that is good about Britain, As he rightly says that is to do with liberty, freedom and tolerance. It took a long time to get there BUT we did, mind you thsi present bunvh are doing their best to destroy some of the freedoms.

Perhaps the real date we should celebrate is January 30th as the annivesary of the execution of Charles I. This is the real date that the yoke of dictatorship and the divine rights of monarchs was cast aside. There might be those who thing that regicide is not soemthing to be celebrated BUT in this case we ceratinly should.Charles I tried to hand on to his divine rights and forced Brtain into a nasty Civil War in which many people were killed, just to uphold his rather nasty view that he could rule because his Daddy did.

His descendant Charles is just a batty middle aged man who even if he didi become King would have very little power. So lets hear it for January 30th and celebrate freedom from oppression!
